A White House Plan To Give Voting Rights to non-citizens is wrong

When we change fundamental laws and principles, we alter the foundation upon which this nation was built and stands through time. The entire revolt against tyranny was capsulized in British subjects like George Washington and the Founders who not only saw taxation without representation as evil, but the invasion of a man’s home, the deprivation of his property and the denial of representatives as a product of a government not of the people, but of the person, a King. The idea that citizens have anything at all worth losing, it is the right to vote because in that solitary act is contained all the fundamentals accesses and rights of freedom, and a free society. We can’t just give that away, without the vote of those of our representatives altering the Constitution in a proper manner called for that purpose. No man under the United States Constitution or the laws of the United States has the singular power to alter that pivotal leg of our foundation and our freedom. This becomes an outrage. Engelbrecht is wrong in her edict, “Any state or federal agency that works to prevent non-U.S. citizens from registering to vote in 2016 will witness the full wrath—lawful or not—of the Department of Justice.”
